Apprentice Training Week

What a week! Our apprentices had the privilege of participating in an enriching, hands-on training programme tailored to support and accelerate their progress through the NVQ, whether they’re in their first, second, or third year.

Our apprentices focused on the long-standing art of timber roof construction, a key component of the colleges NVQ curriculum, and the hands-on experience upskilled their knowledge making the whole experience so valuable.

We are also hugely grateful to Alsford Timber in Sittingbourne for hosting this practical week and helping bring our apprentices’ learning to life. A special thanks to SEC's Russell Gray, who generously volunteered to lead the session—with valuable support from Lloyd Brown and Archie, one our most experienced apprentices.

“I found the training week very informative, well managed, and I have benefitted from working alongside more experienced NVQ apprentices.”

“Timing is perfect as I’m in the process of completing the task assessments for timber roofs and I have learnt so much from the practical experience this week.”
