Great Connections at Kent Construction Expo
We had a fantastic day at the Kent Construction Expo, with some great opportunities to connect with valued business partners, strengthen existing relationships and look ahead to future projects and opportunities.
Throughout the day, we caught up with a number of key contacts across the construction industry, including:
· We spoke with Apex discussing the successful completion of projects and opportunities for future works. We also continued the conversation around social value and collaboration.
· It was great to catch up with Kier Southern, building on existing relationships and talking about current and future works. We’re excited about continuing to work together.
· We enjoyed catching up with Morgan Sindall, including a great game, and plenty of discussion around projects and future opportunities.
Mental Health, Burnout & Retention in Construction
A particular highlight of the day was seeing our Wellbeing & Personal Development Manager, Kelly Hannaghan, take to the panel for ‘Mental Health, Burnout & Retention in Construction’.
Kelly delivered a really engaging discussion, covering a wide range of important issues around wellbeing, development and retaining people within our industry.
One of the key messages was “listen to understand” – something that closely aligns with our own focus at SEC on communication, connection and creating an environment where people feel valued and supported.
Kelly also highlighted the importance of having a clear development pathway for our workforce and encouraged everyone to consider a simple but powerful question:
What have you been doing to feel great – and have you been doing much of that lately?
The panel was a great opportunity for Kelly to share SEC’s approach to wellbeing and personal development, and how we are embedding this into our culture rather than treating it as a standalone initiative.
A productive day of conversations, connections and new opportunities. We look forward to seeing where those conversations lead.
