Project overview

The new £13.4 million Building for the School of Economics and further teaching facilities in the heart of Kent will provide Canterbury University with a three-storey facility will allow the university to locate the School of Economics under one roof to provide a modern home and community for the school. It will house improved facilities such as social spaces, meeting rooms and an IT suite, with further teaching space.

The new project follows the creation of the Sibson Building, a recently completed modern new facility for the Kent Business School and the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science that has given the university approximately 8,000m² of state-of-the-art space bringing together academics, students, researchers and administrative staff in a central hub as part of the University’s expansion.

SEC work package

Our package included the design development, manufacture factory finished, and installation of fire rated veneered and pre-finished FD 30 / 60 acoustic door sets, ironmongery, architraves and window boards and integrated fire rated hardwood glazed screens.  Part of our scope was the inclusion of supply and installation of kitchens within the staffing areas, FFE which included polished safety mirrors, baby changing units and bespoke pre-finished shelving.

SEC co-ordinated both the design and final detailing with the Wilmott Dixons Design team, Architects and preferred door manufacturers through the design, approval manufacture process through to the delivery and installation.
