Project overview

The £275 million project is one of Laing O'Rourke's flagship schemes. A project which consisted of the design and build of this 66,300m2 gross internal floor area, fast track state of the art first ever 100% single bedroom (with ensuite) acute hospital in the UK.

The scheme also included the demolition of the existing hospital buildings and completion of new car parks, hard, soft landscaping and helipad. All handover dates were successfully completed ahead of programme with the overall project being completed 37 weeks earlier than the anticipated contract completion date.

SEC work package

Our package consisted of the the supply and installation of 6,500 doorsets. This included in depth design co-ordination with the door manufacturer for the fire rated timber door sets, integrated side panels and timber fire rated screens.

In addition we supplied and installed glazed and non-glazed timber Acrovyn door sets, screens, ironmongery, architraves and skirtings including led lined sets for operating theatres and specialist’s areas.

The fast track programme consisted of a full trade contractor integrated manufacturing and installation process for two passed handovers to approximately 42 individual departments in the 66,000 sqm single bedded, American design PFI Hospital.

The project was a complete success and we were able to complete handover 9 months early with a track record of being snag free.
